Transport Properties of Guest Molecules in Mesoporous SBA-15 Materials - A PFG NMR Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
1. Introduction Catalysts are among the most important materials in modern industry. Hundreds of millions of tonnes of catalysts per year are produced in order to convert " raw " materials into value-added products. Continuously new catalysts with improved chemical and optimized transport properties are developed. At the present time there is an increasing interest in SBA-15 type materials due to their unique internal porous structure, consisting of an array of straight non-intersecting channels with diameters of several nanometres where chemically active centres can be incorporated. Such pores should provide an increased rate of reactant supply and product removal from the catalyst. In the present work, the pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR) method has been applied to study the mobility of guest molecules in SBA-15.

The purpose of this study was to improve our understanding of the molecular organization of hydrophobic guest molecules in the presence of co-adsorbed water inside SBA-15 ordered mesoporous silica material. Understanding this adsorption competition is essential in the development of applications of controlled adsorption and desorption. The poorly water soluble drug compound itraconazole and the...

متن کاملFriedel–Crafts alkylation properties of aluminosilica SBA-15 meso/macroporous monoliths and mesoporous powders
The catalytic activities of SBA-15 aluminosilica meso/macroporous monoliths (Si/Al = 72) and mesoporous powders (Si/Al = 70) have been investigated using batch Friedel–Crafts alkylation of single-ring aromatic compounds, including toluene, ethylbenzene, cumene, and styrene, with benzyl alcohol. The toluene alkylation activities of the meso/macroporous monolith catalysts were compared with nanop...
متن کاملSorbate Transport in Carbon Molecular Sieve Membranes and FAU/EMT Intergrowth by Diffusion NMR
In this paper we present and discuss selected results of our recent studies of sorbate self-diffusion in microporous materials. The main focus is given to transport properties of carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes as well as of the intergrowth of FAU-type and EMT-type zeolites. CMS membranes show promise for applications in separations of mixtures of small gas molecules, while FAU/EMT inter...
